Ken Follett’s, The Pillars of the Earth and World Without End, are, in my opinion (imo), the 2 best epic historical novels of all time. After all these years, I still have yet to read a novel that is more beautifully written. You do not need to read Pillars 1st; however, I would suggest you do so for the background information.
